About Us

Established in 2021, African Rainbow Energy is a leading renewable energy platform and following the increased investment in the SOLA Group, African Rainbow Energy is invested across a diversified portfolio of renewable energy and battery storage projects totalling 1857 MW. Of this portfolio, 1.4 GW is already operational, with a further 483 MW under construction. In addition to its operating and development portfolio, the company also owns a debt portfolio of R4 billion across 20 renewable energy assets.

Our vision is to build an African Energy Champion based in South Africa, harnessing top-tier skills, and technology to provide affordable clean energy to our clients and contribute to the economic growth of the countries in which we operate, as well as delivering competitive returns to our investors.

Our investments span a diverse range of clean energy investments within both the commercial and industrial sectors (C&I), as well as participation in the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers Procurement Programme (REIPPPP).

African Rainbow Energy is the controlling investor in SOLA Group, a 100% South African, vertically integrated renewable energy company that provides solar infrastructure, generation and energy storage.

Our portfolio consists of 1.87GW of projects, including 902MW from the REIPPP and 963MW from Commercial & Industrial projects.

African Rainbow Energy is one of seven pre-qualified bidders to bid for the first phase of the Independent Transmission Projects (ITP) programme.
